NEWS RELEASE FOR VOLUNTEERS

 “SO WHAT!”

Each year since 1974, the Blackhawk Shrine Club has provided workers in the food tents at the PGA Golf Tournament in the Quad-Cities, known as the “John Deere Classic”.

Since 1974 the Shriners AND Volunteers have converted these hours spent into funds that were sent to the Shrine Hospitals, over $150,000.00!  In addition, since 1993 the John Deere “Birdies for Charities” has provided over $60,000. to the Transportation Funds of both Kaaba and Mohammed Shrine!

“SO WHAT”…..VOLUNTEERS…..we need your help!

MOST Volunteers say, “How can I help?  I’ve worked before and it was fun to see
friends and neighbors buying food from our tent.  Besides that, my friends wanted to know how they could help!”  Yes, this is a very gratifying experience, because we know we are helping the children in the hospital.  HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP!

  1. Help find workers!
  2. Pitch-in with a pledge to “Birdies for Charity” (every penny PLUS a 10% bonus comes back to us)!

Any person who enjoys golf or just wants to help is offered a FREE PASS for each day they will work FOUR HOURS.  Naturally, if they want to work more hours, we’d love to have them!  Look around…..neighbors, relatives, friends…they are all able to contribute to our efforts.

Dates are July 4th through July 10th beginning in the “Oasis” food tent at 8:00 am until
6:00 pm., we need 50 people per day.  Each worker can determine the hours they want to work.  We will need over 250 workers during this time, because few people work all day!  Younger people are encouraged to work late shifts.
